What Shopify developers ask before they'll vouch for an app

You're putting your name behind what you install for a client. Here's exactly how ShopGuide handles data, scope, and liability — plus the documents you can request before you make any introduction.

Indemnified Referral partners are covered by a written agreement

The four things partners ask about first

These aren't marketing claims — they're structural facts about how the app is built and how partnerships are set up.

Scoped to one store, always

Product search and recommendations are pulled exclusively from that store's own Shopify catalog through a dedicated per-store index. The agent has no other store's product data to draw from — there's nothing for it to recommend outside the store it's installed on.

GDPR-compliant by design

Visitor tracking only starts after someone accepts the store's own cookie consent banner — without consent, no visitor or session identifier is created at all. Infrastructure is operated in Germany, and no visitor data is sold or shared with third parties.

Run by a registered business, not an anonymous listing

ShopGuide is operated by Noah Müller, a registered sole proprietorship (Kleingewerbe) based in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. Trade registration details are available any time — see the documents below.

Written protection for referral partners

When you refer a client, we put it in writing: a signed agreement confirming ShopGuide — not you — is responsible for issues caused by the app itself. As a sole proprietorship, that commitment is backed by Noah personally, not a separate limited-liability entity — reach out and we'll walk through exactly how it works before you make an introduction.

Questions we get from developers and agencies

Will the AI ever send my client's customers to a competitor?
No. Product search and recommendations are pulled exclusively from that store's own Shopify catalog through a dedicated per-store index — the agent has no other store's product data to draw from, so there's nothing for it to recommend outside that store.
Is ShopGuide GDPR compliant?
Yes. Tracking only starts after a visitor accepts the store's own cookie consent banner — without consent, no visitor or session ID is created at all. Infrastructure is hosted in Germany, and no visitor data is sold or shared with third parties.
How do I get proof of your legal registration?
Reach out through the contact form below and we'll send the current trade registration certificate (Gewerbeschein) directly — before you need to make any introduction to a client.
Can I get something in writing that protects me if I refer a client?
Yes. We put it in writing before you make any introduction — a signed agreement confirming ShopGuide, not you, is responsible for issues arising from the app. Reach out through the contact form and we'll walk through exactly how it works for your situation.
Where is customer and visitor data stored?
On infrastructure ShopGuide operates directly in Germany, not a shared US cloud region. Data is only collected after consent, and stores can request deletion at any time.
Does adding ShopGuide require changes to my client's existing privacy policy?
No custom configuration is required. ShopGuide reads consent from the store's existing cookie banner and respects whatever privacy policy the merchant already has published.
